BlogCFC on Railo

Yesterday i bought a new server. I wanted to move all of my websites to it but didnt really want to pay for coldfusion, hence i am now running railo

The configuration was fairly simple at times, with some parts being slightly more complex. But good news is it is working now.

As you can probably see by the state of the website at the moment there are a few differences between coldfusion and Railo. This will tae a bit of my time, to go through all of my websites to make sure that they are all runing correctly.
But as it is i would highly reccoment Railo

With my current setup i have Windows Server 2003 with Plesk 9 and Railo.
This setup is really good as i have a separate version of the Railo administrator for each domain, which is good when i come to selling hosting on it, as users will be able to configure there hosting through plesk and through the Railo administrator. This means that all users will be able to configure there own custom tags, mail setting, application settings, debugging settings and much much more

There are a few bad points about Railo, that is that not all of the ColdFusion tages are included yet. I think that it is mainly some of the CF8 tags, and the image and chart tags.

I will be keeping you all up to date on my progress with Railo and hope to see many more people adopting Railo as there option for hosting ColdFusion.

Raymond Camden's Gravatar FYI, are you curious why people see *** all over the place? You have CF Debugging turned on, but IP restricted. BlogCFC's localization picks up on the CF Debugging and uses the *s to 'mark' localized text. This is a 'feature' I guess that helped me while doing the localization. It makes it easy to find stuff NOT localized. You should turn on CF Debugging. Even with it IP restricted it is still gathering resources and has an impact, although probably not big, on your site performance.

Gert Franz's Gravatar Congratulations to your new websites. I just wanted to add two things: CFIMAGE and CFCHART are supported. The only thing that CFCHART does not support is combined charts. Like when you want to draw a line diagram over a block diagram for instance. Some other things will be in Railo 3.1 final as well like AJAX stuff. So look out for Railo 3.1.

Jonny Shaw's Gravatar Thanks for the advice ray.
I was surprised at how easily BlogCFC went accross to to railo.
The only problem seemed to be the ***s all over the place.
